Palace Confirm Speroni’s Contract Extension
Crystal Palace boss Sam Allardyce has confirmed club legend Julian Speroni has signed a one-year contract extension with Crystal Palace.
Julian Speroni, the 37-year-old club legend, has only made two appearances so far this season for the first team. Both of these appearances came in our FA Cup run.
Having been relegated to third-choice goalkeeper behind Wayne Hennessey and Steve Mandanda earlier in the season, Speroni has been on the bench ever since Mandanda injured his knee on international duty with France.
Despite his lack of action under Allardyce, the decision has been taken to give him an extension through until the end of next season, extending his stay at Selhurst Park into a 14th year.
Asked whether he would be parting ways with the Argentine following confirmation of Palace’s place in the Premier League, Allardyce told the Croydon Advertiser: “No, he signed a new one-year contract.”
Earlier this season Speroni broke the club record for first team appearances for a goalkeeper.
