Self-Raising Flour

If, like me, you live abroad then you will probably find it difficult to find self-raising flour. Here is a quick and easy way to make your own when needed.

  • 150g plain flour
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon bicarbonate soda (baking soda) (if cooking with cocoa, yoghurt or buttermilk)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (if required for US self-raising flour)

  1. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt (if required) together into a bowl before using, to make sure the baking powder is thoroughly distributed (or you can put both ingredients into a bowl and whisk them together).

Bon appetite
