The Stockholm Metro System

Considered to be the world's longest art gallery

472

The Stockholm metro system is said to be the longest art gallery in the world and it is only when you see it up close that you really appreciate how wonderful it is and how the London Underground is bland by comparison.

You might think of city subways as dingy, noisy places – simply a way to get where you’re going. Not so in Stockholm. There, the subway is a destination of its own, one you don’t want to miss.

More than 90 of the 100 stations in the 110km tunnel system, sometimes referred to as “the world’s longest art gallery”, have been decorated with paintings, installations, mosaics and sculptures by 150 artists since the 1950s.

There isn’t anything more I can write, it’s best to let the pictures speak for themselves!
